Luxury exhibition stand design

A practical guide to designing and building trade-fair stands for luxury maisons, written by the atelier that has carried runway-grade standards into international exhibitions since 1979.

1. A trade-fair stand is a scenography

A luxury exhibition stand is not a booth with graphics: it is a small piece of temporary architecture that has to tell a brand in a few square metres, hold thousands of visitors, and disappear overnight. Red Studio's method comes from runway shows — light, material, rhythm — and applies the same rigour to fairs.

2. Concept and engineering

We start from the maison's identity: archive, palette, material codes. Architectural concept sets flows and the hierarchy of zones (welcome, product, hospitality, back-office). Working drawings are signed by in-house architects and engineers, with detail tables for every connection.

3. Materials for high-end stands

Solid and veneered woods, powder-coated metal, real marble and agglomerates, laminated glass, technical fabrics, plaster and resin finishes. The rule: every material is sampled and approved in the atelier before it ever reaches the workshop.

4. Workshop build

Walls, volumes and custom furniture are built in our Rome workshops: carpentry, metal, paint, finishing. The full stand is pre-assembled in-house to validate every joint and minimise on-site work.

5. International logistics

Dedicated transport, customs, ATA carnets, local crews coordinated from Rome: we operate in Paris, Milan, New York, Shanghai, Dubai, Basel, with a single project manager from first brief to post-event teardown.

6. Install, run, strike

Certified schedule, crews on rotation, technical direction for lighting, audio and video. During the fair, we keep dedicated technicians on site. At closing, we strike modularly so elements can be reused.

7. Realistic timelines

For a mid-to-large custom stand we recommend 8–12 weeks: concept (2), working drawings and prototypes (2), build (4–6), install (1). Simpler projects can land in 5–6 weeks without compromising quality.

8. Frequently asked questions

How do you build a luxury exhibition stand? Architectural concept, working drawings, workshop build, on-site install on a certified schedule.

How much does a luxury trade-fair stand cost? It depends on size, materials and technical content; every quote is bespoke after brief and site visit.

Do you work outside Italy? Yes — most of our work is installed abroad, with logistics and crews coordinated from Rome.
